about a week ago, i found a cell phone in the street. well, it was on a windowledge of a shopfront. i stopped and looked around and couldnt see any obvious owner. i checked the screen to see the phone company, and took it a few blocks out of my way to the store. unfortunately it was closed, so i took it home with me. i called my phone and got the number, then called the phone company to report it 'found' and advise i would leave it at the store for the owner to pick up. the next day the owner called me up, but he only spoke french so someone else got on and i told them where i would leave it. everyone that i dealt with or told, like the guy at the phone store, seemed so surprised at my willingness to help, and go out of my way to do so.
i would hope someone would do the same for me.
now, over a week later, i just received a call from his daughter to say thank you again, and how it was such a nice thing. and hes very glad he didnt receive some enormous phone bill. apparently he was just visiting ottawa, hes in congress or something. so it would have been difficult for him to find it.
anyway, i was just thinking about the good things that have happened to me since i did that nice thing. not only have i started seeing matt, but yesterday i was offered (and accepted) a free ticket to the red hot chili peppers concert in montreal on thursday, all i need to do is help pay for gas. a friend at work, amy, had an extra ticket and no one to go with.
go karma!
